Paul Seys becomes Head of User Experience
Digital agency Redweb has promoted Paul Seys from Senior Designer to Head of User Experience in order to increase the agency’s focus and resource on all areas of usability. Seys has worked at Redweb since 2005. Prior to joining the agency he freelanced for two years whilst lecturing in multimedia and worked at Deepend as a designer before that. Redweb, recently named as one of the UK’s fastest growing media companies, advises clients such as E.ON, the Treasury and Axa Insurance on online user experience.
The promotion follows Seys gaining his Certified Usability Analyst accreditation after a year studying under HFI on their Certified Usability Analyst (CUA) programme which validates a usability practitioner's expertise in user-centered design. At Redweb Seys has worked on user experience and site design for The Electoral Commission and Sky Business.
Commenting on the promotion, Andrew Henning, CEO of Redweb, explains, "User-focused design has always been at the heart of our business ethos and greater focus and resource to this expanding part of the business will benefit our clients. It’s a key strength when tackling large and complex projects and we know it’s an area that clients value. The range of users for sites such as the Identity and Passport Service, the Serious Fraud Office and HM Treasury means that we have built our credentials and experience in usability and it’s now time to give it dedicated resource".
Paul Seys, Head of User Experience, adds, "Whilst we have always incorporated user feedback in our processes, we have given more focus to user experience over the past year, to the point where some clients are building in specific and ongoing user experience research in to their projects. I became interested in user experience whilst I was at Deepend when ‘usability’ was still in relative infancy. Over the past few years I have focused more and more on user focussed design, which has lead me to seek accreditation. Now clients will be able to benefit from what I have learnt on the course combined with hands on experience at Redweb and Deepend".
Paul Seys’s HFI Certified Usability Analysts qualification endorses a clear understanding of research-based principles of designing interfaces from the perspective of the end user. The one year course covers perform data gathering, task analysis, and usability testing, including pinpointing the usability problems and offering design solutions.
